Report on the Extraordinary Meeting of the MCEA

As Friends and Supporters of Mannafields are aware, we have been facing a mounting financial debt to the teachers. This resulted in the recent Extraordinary Association meeting held at the school on Monday 20th June 2011.

The meeting started with a reminder of all that we have to be thankful for to God regarding the school, with parents and supporters providing examples of how good He has been and how He has used the school in the lives of former and current pupils alike.

A short summary was given as to how the debt has continued to mount up to the point where the Board felt it was appropriate to make an appeal to the extended family of Mannafields. Also, in trying to balance the responsibilities of paying the teachers what they were due with that of controlling the financial burden on the Association members, the Board then called the Extraordinary Association meeting.

A financial update was given by the treasurer who found money and pledges coming in even minutes before the meeting began. Praise God, He provided significant funding that has effectively cleared the debt to the teachers with an added increase to monthly support as well.

With this sure sign that God wills Mannafields to continue His work in Edinburgh, He also shut the door to the Association vote on the proposal from the Board due to the lack of an appropriate quorum of Association members. He took us so far but not too far. Thanks be to God.

The result is that Mannafields will continue to provide children with a Christ centered education in Edinburgh while the Lord continues to provide for the needs of the school. The current threat of closure has passed.

It is a great encouragement to see God’s hand at work within the school. He has reaffirmed His blessing upon the school and given us a sure mandate to move forward.

Please continue to pray that more pledges and commitments to regular support will also come in.
